About Big Dance in the West Midlands

Big Dance is the UK’s biggest celebration of all types of dance, for all ages and all levels of ability.

Dancefest is the West Midlands lead organisation for Big Dance for the first time this year, working with colleagues from across the region (2 Faced Dance Company, DanceXchange, Coventry Performing Arts Service, Black Country Dance Hub led by Dudley Performing Arts, Staffordshire County Council, Shropshire Council and Telford and Wrekin Council) to organise events for the Big Dance Pledge on 16 May and Big Dance Week, 5-13 July.

The thirteen Big Dance hubs and their partners across the UK are working with the Foundation for Community Dance to produce plans for 2014-2017.

Big Dance Pledge

The Big Dance Pledge on Friday 16 May is a chance to learn, make and perform dance with the rest of the world. This special 5th edition is created by Scottish Ballet with fun and celebration at its heart, as part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme of the XX Commonwealth Games.

Perform as part of the two simultaneous performances on 16 May from wherever you are to be part of a unique wave of dancing across the world.
